Heat where you feel it — at floor level
A floor-mounted unit sits a few inches off the floor against the wall, exactly where a baseboard or radiator would be. In heating mode it pushes warm air along the floor from two outlets — top and bottom — so the room warms from your feet up instead of from the ceiling down. That's a real difference in an Adirondack camp with a cathedral ceiling or a Vermont farmhouse with knee walls upstairs, where a high wall unit has nowhere to hang and warm air would pool at the peak.

Questions about floor-mounted units
Can it go under a window?
Yes — that's the classic placement, right where the baseboard was. It needs a few inches of clearance and a path for the line set through the wall behind it.
Is it as efficient as a wall unit?
Slightly less on paper, but in rooms with high ceilings it often delivers better comfort per dollar because the heat stays where you are instead of at the peak.
Does it get in the way of furniture?
It's about 28 inches wide and 8.5 inches deep — roughly a large radiator. Most people place it where the old radiator or baseboard was and the furniture layout doesn't change.
Can it be recessed into the wall?
It can be partially recessed with a framed opening; we'll look at the wall construction at the estimate.
Can a floor unit be one zone of a multi-zone system?

Is it safe with kids and pets?
