Air conditioning installation & repair

Cooling that controls humidity, not just temperature

Upstate summers are short and sticky. A conventional central air conditioner cycles on hard, cools the air fast, and shuts off before it's pulled the moisture out — so the house feels clammy at 72°F. Mitsubishi inverter systems do the opposite: they run long and quiet at a low speed, holding temperature within a degree and wringing out humidity while they do it.

Because every system we install is a heat pump, the "air conditioner" you buy for July is the heating system that carries you through January at -13°F. One purchase, two seasons, and NYS Clean Heat rebates you would never get on a cooling-only unit.

  • Ductless wall, floor and ceiling units — no ductwork needed
  • Ducted air handlers on your existing registers
  • Most installs finished in a single day
  • Repair and tune-ups on any brand of central AC

Questions homeowners ask us

Is a Mitsubishi mini-split just an air conditioner?

Every Mitsubishi system we install is a heat pump — it cools in summer and heats in winter. If you only want cooling, we can install it that way, but there's no reason to: the same unit that cools the bedroom in July will replace the space heater in January for a fraction of the cost.

How does it handle Upstate humidity?

Better than a conventional central AC. An inverter compressor runs long and low instead of short and hard, so the coil stays cold long enough to actually pull moisture out of the air. Mitsubishi units also have a Dry mode that dehumidifies without over-cooling — useful in a muggy 74°F August evening.

Can you add air conditioning to a house that has radiators or baseboard?

Yes — this is the most common job we do in older Capital Region and Saratoga homes. Ductless units go where the rooms need them, no ductwork required. A three-zone system typically covers a first floor and two bedrooms.

How much cheaper is it to run than window units?

Up to 40% less electricity per unit of cooling, and you get rid of the noise, the security gap and the blocked window. Multiply that by three or four window units and the summer bill drops noticeably.

Do you service central air conditioners you didn't install?

Yes. We repair and maintain conventional central AC of any brand — coil cleaning, refrigerant charge, capacitors, contactors — at our published maintenance pricing ($169 for an air conditioner tune-up).

When is the best time to book an AC install?

Spring. Estimate calendars fill through June and installs are booked out by the first heat wave. Fall is the next best window — rebates are the same year-round.
