A recessed ceiling cassette mounts between the joists with only a slim grille showing. Air leaves from four sides, so a single unit covers a large open kitchen or great room evenly with no hot corner and no cold one. The EZ FIT™ (MLZ) cassette is sized to drop between standard 16-inch joists — no soffit, no bulkhead — which is why it's the cassette we install most in Capital Region homes. The larger four-way SLZ cassette handles bigger rooms and light-commercial spaces.
Both pair with Hyper-Heat outdoor units for full heating at 5°F. The optional 3D i-see® sensor maps the room and directs airflow to where people are — or away from them.

Questions about ceiling cassette units
Do I need attic access above the room?
For the EZ FIT™ cassette, a joist bay with about 8 inches of depth and access from above or through the ceiling opening is enough. The four-way SLZ needs a bit more depth. We check at the estimate.
What does it look like from below?
A white grille roughly the size of a large ceiling light fixture, flush with the drywall. Most people stop noticing it within a week.
Where does the water go?
Cassettes have a built-in condensate pump that lifts the water to a drain line in the ceiling cavity, routed outside with the line set.
Can it heat as well as cool?
Yes. Because it's in the ceiling, the vanes angle the warm air downward in heating mode; the i-see® sensor helps direct it to the occupied side of the room.
Is it louder than a wall unit?
Slightly, because the fan is above your head — but still whisper-quiet (around 25 dB on low). It's the fan you hear, not a compressor.
Can I put one in a bathroom?
Not recommended — humidity and clearance. A wall unit in the adjacent hall or bedroom usually covers it.
