What a Mitsubishi heat pump installation actually involves
A heat pump is one of the smartest upgrades a homeowner can make — when it's installed correctly. The wrong installer costs you thousands over the life of the system: Mitsubishi won't honor the warranty on a system that was sized or charged improperly, a badly placed outdoor unit works harder and delivers less, and incorrect line-set lengths or charge can kill a compressor years early. Home evaluation
Square footage, insulation, windows, layout, existing heating problems and your fuel bills. This is where the system size comes from — not a rule of thumb.
Custom installation plan
Indoor unit style and location for each zone, outdoor unit placement, line-set routes, electrical requirements, and the written price with rebates applied.
Rebate and financing paperwork
We submit NYS Clean Heat or Efficiency Vermont applications and set up 18-month 0% financing if you want it.
Installation
Mounting plates and outdoor stand, line sets through one 3-inch hole per unit, dedicated circuit, condensate drains, line-hide finish. One day for single-zone, two to three for whole-home.
Commissioning
Deep vacuum, weighed-in charge, pressure and temperature verification in both modes, controls and app setup, warranty registration.

Questions homeowners ask us
What should I do before installation day?
Clear a path to each indoor unit location and to the outdoor unit spot, move furniture off the wall where the head goes, and make sure we can reach the electrical panel. Our Mitsubishi Heat Pump Homeowner Checklist (PDF below) covers everything.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
On a stand or wall bracket, 12–18 inches above grade so snow and defrost water don't bury it, out of the drip line of the roof, with clear airflow. We'll walk the options at the estimate — north side placement is fine; sun exposure isn't a factor for Hyper-Heat units.
Do I need an electrical upgrade?
Sometimes. A single-zone system needs a dedicated 15–20A circuit; a whole-home multi-zone system may need a 30–50A circuit and occasionally a panel upgrade. We check at the estimate and include it in the written price. Details in our 200A service guide.
Will there be holes in my walls?
One 3-inch hole per indoor unit for the line set, covered outside by line-hide channel painted to match the siding. Ducted air handlers use the existing duct connections.
What happens at commissioning?
We pull a deep vacuum on the line set, weigh in the refrigerant charge to spec, verify pressures and temperatures in both modes, set up controls and the Mitsubishi Comfort App, register your Mitsubishi warranty, and walk you through filter care.
When do I get the rebate?
NYS Clean Heat utility rebates are applied as an instant discount on your invoice — we're paid by the utility after the job. Efficiency Vermont rebates work the same way through participating contractors. Nothing to mail.
