Tank, Tankless, or Hybrid — We Install and Service All Three
Your water heater is probably tucked in the basement or a utility closet — a metal cylinder holding 40 to 80 gallons, depending on your household’s hot water needs. Inside, a system of heating elements, valves, and pipes brings water up to temperature and sends it wherever you need it.
Storage tank water heaters heat a set volume of water and keep it hot until you need it — reliable, and typically the lowest upfront cost. Tankless water heaters heat water on demand, so you never run out, though hot water takes a few extra seconds to arrive at the tap. Hybrid heat pump water heaters pull heat from the surrounding air to warm your water, with electric backup for high-demand moments — the most efficient option available today.
Not sure which type you have, or which is right for your home? A quick call gets you a straight answer — no upsell.
A Water Heater That Runs Like a Mini Heat Pump
Hybrid electric heat pump water heaters use the same core technology as the heat pump systems we install for heating and cooling — they pull heat from the surrounding air and transfer it into your water tank, with electric elements assisting only when demand spikes.
The result: water heated for a fraction of the electricity a standard tank uses — up to 4x more efficient, quieter than a running refrigerator, with built-in leak detection and automatic shutoff to protect against water damage, plus WiFi app control from your phone.

Water Heater FAQs
What are the warning signs my water heater is failing?
Watch for reduced or inconsistent hot water, unusual banging or rumbling sounds, water pooling around the base, discolored or smelly water, and a unit older than 8–10 years. Any one of these is worth a quick inspection before it becomes an emergency.
How long do water heaters typically last?
Traditional tank water heaters generally last 8–12 years. Once you’re past year 10–12, you’re on borrowed time — replacing proactively is usually cheaper than dealing with a sudden failure or water damage.
What rebates are available on a new water heater?
As of 2026, National Grid offers up to a $1,250 rebate on qualifying electric heat pump water heaters in Upstate NY, and Efficiency Vermont offers up to $1,000. Note: the federal tax credit for heat pump water heaters expired for installs after December 31, 2025 — but we’ll confirm exactly what you still qualify for before you commit to anything.
How long does installation take?
Most standard tank or hybrid water heater replacements are completed in a single day. More complex installs, like adding a tankless system where none existed before, may take 1–2 days.
